Formerly the Post Oak YMCA, the Trotter Family YMCA has served the community for over 40 years. It had been altered and added to five times during and had become broken organizationally into many small parts. The extensive renovation and addition redefined the facility’s role programmatically and architecturally within the community.
In order to preempt the need for additional renovations, the strategy was to design a plan that operated efficiently with maximum flexibility to accommodate the YMCA’s changing programs. The renovation included the main public areas of the building, such as the main lobby, childcare, classrooms, and fitness room. The addition enlarged the fitness area and added exercise rooms. Exterior upgrades included new signage and a children’s pool area.
