The 4,600 SF bay house, located in the Pirates Cove neighborhood in Galveston, TX, is designed to be used and enjoyed by a family spanning three generations. The house faces the bayside of the island, designed to make efficient use of the cul-de-sac lot on which it sits. The owners required direct views of the bay from the living and all sleeping areas. The exterior is clad with composite fiber cement panels and features motorized hurricane shutters and shatter-proof glazing. The house is elevated to meet flooding regulations and sits on a cast-in-place concrete podium. The ground floor features multiple leisure areas, direct access to the private dock, and a boat slip. The interior of the house’s public areas is open and flexible to accommodate a beach lifestyle. The second floor houses all public and service areas, plus the primary suite, while the third floor includes the family’s private areas, bedrooms, and the grandchildren’s play areas.
