The Massad Family Library is in the University of Houston’s Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. The college wanted an inspired space for learning and research as well as a showcase of Hilton memorabilia and other archives. The main entry’s large, sliding glass entry system and information desk provide access to the library and is adjacent to one of the hotel’s larger ballrooms. Wall graphics of Conrad Hilton and his family are installed on the archive’s mobile shelves and library walls. Lounge areas and group study rooms provide collaboration spaces for students and visitors alike. The common area incorporates natural light through both frosted and transparent glazed openings in the perimeter and interior walls. An adjacent workroom provides privacy for the Center’s archivist and staff.
