The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) on a prototypical regional facility serves as a location for their multiple divisions and provide a recreational, educational facility. The design of the buildings, beginning with the Tyler Nature Center, continues TPWD’s tradition of buildings that are responsive to the local environment and complimentary to traditional Texas vernacular construction methodologies. The Tyler Nature Center fits within the site’s natural context. This durable facility was designed to lower operating and maintenance costs. The project consists of a 20,000 SF administration building, three maintenance buildings totaling over 21,000 SF and Conservation Education Pavilion.
