Located in the heart of Houston, the Sicardi Gallery exhibits museum-quality art including large works, paintings, installations, objects, and video. The world-renowned gallery continues to be a source to museums internationally and hosts exhibitions of modern and contemporary work by acclaimed artists working all around the world.
The building responds to the site’s orientation as well as to its very specific neighboring qualities. Its location near the Menil Collection’s campus and the Houston Center for Photography required careful consideration. Its placement on the site allows for maximum use of a small urban lot.
Display and work spaces are interconnected with each other providing clear circulation while allowing for privacy where needed. Natural light enters the building indirectly and is controlled where required for specific art installations.
