This project is part of a larger schematic study for the enhancement of the main entrance to the School of Social Work at the University of Houston. The project consists of a new entrance in tune with current student life expectations. It includes a new reception and waiting area, ample social space, areas for rotating art display, a dedicated art wall, new and clearer access to upper floors, and informal outdoor gathering space. The project strives to foster connectivity between the interior of the building and the exterior areas in the core of this large campus by dissolving the physical barrier between indoor and outdoor. Interior renovation of large spaces and public circulation are also a part of this modestly-budgeted but ambitiously impactful project.
