The project consists of over 40,000 SF of empty shell space within an existing 90,000 SF building. The program required doubling the size of the existing 12,000 SF library along with the addition of a Student Developmental Department Suite and two new Science Classrooms. Within the project’s requirements was the design of a joint venture between Houston Community College and the Houston Independent School District. The Early College Campus groups a small number of high school students into a college campus to gradually integrate them into college course work through a traditional high school degree plan.
BRAVE / ARCHITECTURE was charged with designing the circulation space that surrounded HISD’s new out-reach high school and to ensure there was a seamless connection between the two entities. The library was expanded by adding private study rooms and administrative offices as well as new furniture, finishes, and equipment.
